On the Select Data page you choose the data
you want to have in your report. There are six selections for you to make.
After you've made your choices, click the Next
button to display the Select Fields page.
You get to the Select Data page when you click the
Start button on the opening page
of the ISCR Report Generator.
Choose one of the following three types of data:
- Incidence:
The number of cases of cancer diagnosed during a given time period.
- Mortality:
The number of deaths from cancer during a given time period.
- Stage:
The number of cases of cancer diagnosed during a given time period, but broken
out by stage, which is the extent or spread of the cancer at the time of diagnosis.
Choose one of the following three geographic areas:
- State: Data from the entire state
of Indiana.
- County: Data from individual counties
within Indiana.
- District: Data from regional groups of counties
comprising the 10 Public Health Preparedness Districts in Indiana.
If you choose County or District,
on the next page you can select the specific county or district.
Note the county level data is limited in order to protect patient confidentiality.
The data is not broken out by age, race, or stage of diagnosis. Moreover, the breakdown
by site is limited to the most common sites.
Choose one of the following three time periods:
- 1 Year: Data from a single year.
- 5 Years: Data from a period of
5 consecutive years.
- 10 Years: Data from a period of
10 consecutive years.
No matter which time period you choose, on the next page you can select
the specific 1-, 5-, or 10-year period.
Choose any combination of the following statistics:
- Counts: The number of cases diagnosed or
the number of deaths that occurred during the selected time period.
- Rates:
The number of cases or deaths per 100,000 people in the population at risk.
- Confidence
Interval: The lower and upper ends of a confidence interval for the
rate based on a percent value you enter.
- Standard
Error: The standard error of the rate.
Choose one of the following two methods for calculating rates:
- Age
Adjusted: The rates are adjusted
to compensate for the difference in age distribution of the population of
the selected geographic area with the age distribution of the 2000 US
Standard population.
- Age
Specific/Crude Rates: The rates are not adjusted. If you choose this
option, you can choose to see the breakdown of cancer by 5-year age cohorts
unless you select County as the
Geographic Area.
Choose the number of digits that will be given after the decimal point
in the rates, confidence intervals, and standard error values. You can
choose 0, 1, 2, or 3. This choice has no affect on the counts, which are
always whole numbers.
